6. Audiologist & Speech Therapist Revision Strategy
A simple three-stage approach can be used while preparing the Professional Ability syllabus.
Step 1 : Learn
Complete each official syllabus heading and prepare concise notes using trusted study sources.
Step 2 : Recall
Close the notes and try to retrieve important concepts from memory.
Revisit areas that you cannot explain or remember clearly.
Step 3 : Practice
Attempt objective questions under timed conditions.
When reviewing mistakes, identify whether the error occurred because of:
• A concept gap
• Confusion between answer options
• Calculation error
• Rushed reading
7. Do Not Ignore the Common CBT Sections
Professional Ability is the largest indicated section of the examination, with 70 questions and 70 marks.
However, candidates should continue preparing the common sections throughout their Audiologist & Speech Therapist preparation.
The common sections are:
• General Awareness
• General Arithmetic
• General Intelligence & Reasoning
• General Science
Under the indicative CBT distribution, these common areas together account for 30 questions.
They should therefore be practised regularly rather than being left entirely for the final stage of preparation.
8. Negative Marking and Accuracy
Incorrect answers attract a deduction of 1/3 of the marks allotted for each wrong answer.
Candidates should therefore develop both speed and accuracy during objective-question practice.
While practising, keep track of repeated mistakes and revise the concepts responsible for those errors.
Uncertain guesses should not be treated as free attempts because incorrect answers attract negative marking.
9. Audiologist & Speech Therapist Preparation Checklist
Before completing your preparation, check whether you have:
